Today's weather was fantastic, fabulous, awesome!!! No more wet umbrellas, drenched cameras or slippery roads!
This morning I woke up on time at 7.30am, surprisingly! It was a good night's rest with peaceful room mates, comfy bed and thick fluffy blanket.
We had breakfast in the hostel which was quite good. Free flow of toasts, croissants and cornflakes with milk, hot chocolate, tea etc. Afterwhich we embarked on the adventure to explore North York Moors! It's an area outside the central Yorkshire, a really lovely place. =D
Steam train virgin experience!
Transportation cost mainly accounted for our spendings today. £10.50 coach ride from central York to Pickering rail station and £15 for the steam train ride to Goathland.
The steam train ride was such a beautiful experience. The train that we took offered gala dining services so u can actually see those women dressed up in the classic British style sitting in the cabin just like in movies.
But for us, of cuz we could only take the standard train ride in the much less glamorous cabin! Haha! Nevertheless, the 45 min ride was so memorable. The buu-buu sound of the train's horn, the beautiful moors along the railway, cute little herds of sheep grazing greedily on the grass and the fresh breeze that brush against my face when I stuck my head out of the window... All these images and deeply etched in my mind!
We arrived at Goathland, the so called celebrity station, because it is where Harry potter filmed their first show, the scene of Hogsmeade train station!
The national park is seriously a place to chill and just stroll around to discover the beauty of nature! There's again many sheeps grazing around freely and the everywhere is surrounded by the green pasture and breathtakig scenery of the moors.
We decided to look for this waterfall that was stated on the map and we had to trek down this hillside with a really steep gradient. It was crazy!!!!!! I was on the verge of giving up but I'm
glad that I perservered because down in valley was actually another paradise. No words can describe the beauty of the scenery so I shall just upload the pics next time when I have the chance to. If u haven realized, I've been blogging from my iPhone cuz apparently I didn't bring along my laptop.
We were so tired after the 'moors expedition' that we KO-ed on the steam train on our way back to Pickering.
Had dinner at some random Chinese take away inn in pickering before taking the bus back to York. The lady is so nice to allow us to eat in her shop even though it's a take away inn, because we told her we had to rush to catch the scheduled bus.
Well well well, to sum it up, today is one of the most relaxing day of the trips that we've taken so far. It's always nice to slow down one's pace of life to enjoy the natural beauty of our world at times.
I'm so sure I'm gonna have aching tighs when I wake up tml after today's 'trekking exercise' LOL!
It's all worth it though... Good
Night world! ^^
